The Achievement in Diverse Educational Progress and Talent Competition Olympiad (ADEPT) has been established by a team of professional educators from Australia, Hong Kong, and Macau. This competition serves as a platform to connect students and schools worldwide, helping them develop their soft skills and subject-specific abilities. ADEPT covers various subjects, including Chinese, English, Mathematics, Science, Digital Technology, AI & Cyber Security, Art, and Futurepreneurs (Business).
“Achievement in Diverse Educational Progress and Talent Competition Olympiad” refers to a competitive platform that celebrates exceptional achievements across diverse areas of educational progress and talent, providing participants with an opportunity to showcase their skills, learn from others, and compete for recognition and rewards.
It signifies the recognition of exceptional achievements.
It encompasses achievements in academic performance, learning outcomes, teaching methodologies, or any other aspect related to educational growth and improvement.
It highlights the inclusion of various areas, approaches, or aspects related to educational progress and talent.
Talent signifies exceptional abilities, skills, or aptitudes in specific areas.

ADEPT Chinese is a specialized language-learning program designed for native Cantonese speakers studying Chinese. It offers comprehensive resources to enhance their language skills in sentence making, sentence extending, and vocabulary. Through interactive exercises, students can practice constructing grammatically correct sentences and expanding them with descriptive elements. One of the key features of ADEPT Chinese is its emphasis on sentence construction, enabling students to develop their skills in formulating grammatically correct and meaningful sentences. ADEPT Chinese offers a supportive and immersive learning experience for native Cantonese speakers, empowering them to excel in their Chinese language studies.

Chinese is also one of the main languages in the world. ADEPT Chinese Plus+ is special for students who are non-native Chinese speakers. It will have two languages, traditional and simplified Chinese, to assist students in discovering and exploring Chinese culture and its grammar.
The ADEPT Chinese Plus+ as an additional language syllabus consists of three levels: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced. The competition content will be modeled after the question types of IGCSE Chinese examinations, including reading comprehension, vocabulary matching, translation, word filling, correction, and sentence rearranging. Our goal is to test participants’ Chinese language proficiency in a fun and relaxed way, while also encouraging more people to learn and use Chinese. No matter your level of Chinese, you are welcome to take on the challenge and show off your skills!

ADEPT English goes beyond grammar and language usage. By incorporating diverse themes, ADEPT English provides students with interesting and relevant content. The competition covers a wide range of language skills, including grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, and oral communication. ADEPT English creates a dynamic learning environment that fosters language proficiency and encourages students to explore various topics with enthusiasm. It is not only focused on the use of English, but it also implements different kinds of topics and subjects such as STEM and poetry into the papers to make it fun.

ADEPT Mathematics is the Science that deals with the logic of shape, quantity, and arrangement. Math is all around us, in everything we do. In our competition, it is not only calculations, it also includes sharps, formulas, fractions, and decimals, etc. All ability-level students can participate in ADEPT Mathematics although they don’t have the Olympiad background.

ADEPT Science is one of the subjects in STEM, and its development is crucial for the future years, even the next century. ADEPT Science includes general knowledge, global knowledge, and Science subjects such as Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Space for our students to unblock their performance and knowledge in these areas.

The ADEPT Digital Technology, AI & Cyber Security competition is designed to equip students with essential digital skills and a foundational understanding of emerging technologies that shape our world today. This subject introduces participants to the core concepts of modern computing, the principles of artificial intelligence (AI), and the importance of cyber security in the digital age.
Fundamental Digital Technology concepts: Understanding how computers and digital systems work, hardware and software basics, and the role of technology in daily life.
Artificial Intelligence: Discovering what AI is, real-life examples and applications, simple algorithms, and ethical considerations in AI development.
Cyber Security: Learning about online safety, personal data protection, common digital threats (such as phishing and malware),the importance of strong passwords, and best practices for secure digital behavior.

“Creativity is the ability to think about a task or a problem in a new or different way, or the ability to use the imagination to generate new ideas.” ADEPT Art topics will be combined with creativity and innovation to develop student’s imagination in the future. The topics are Dreams in Space or Nature Reimagined (Students can select one topic to finish artwork), and all artwork should be drawn by hand on paper or computer other drawing paper.

The ADEPT Futurepreneurs Competition aims to inspire and empower the next generation of business leaders, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to excel in the dynamic world of commerce. This competition provides a platform for students to apply their knowledge and skills in practical business scenarios, ultimately preparing them for future academic and professional endeavors. Various topics for students to create and present their works and ideas such as video (maximum 3 minutes) ,essay (at least 350 words), computer/ hand drawing, poster, and PowerPoint slides (maximum 10 slides). Students can choose one of the topics below and use English only to participate in this competition.
1. Business for Social Impact
Develop a business idea that directly addresses a social challenge—such as poverty, health, education, or inequality. How will your venture create positive change in society while remaining sustainable?
2. Green Innovations in Everyday Products
Design a new everyday product (or reinvent an existing one) to make it more environmentally friendly. Explain how your business would produce, market, and promote this “green” product.
3. EdTech for the Future
Design an educational technology (EdTech) business that helps students, teachers, or lifelong learners. What new tools or platforms will you create to make learning more effective, engaging, or inclusive?

Craig comes from a mixed western and Chinese family background. He attended international primary and secondary schools, after which he graduated twice from the HK Polytechnic University in Computing Studies. After a lengthy period in I.T. and with a rapidly changing tech environment, he decided the best route for him in education. Being a Native English speaker since birth, he acquired the CertTESOL in 2005 and became a teacher. Since then, he has also obtained a B.A. in Business Management from University of Bedfordshire, UK. After nearly twenty years in education, Craig has done every level from Kg, primary, secondary AND tertiary. He is especially keen and strong in Phonics and speaking-related positions (speaking NET roles) which he has done several times at primary level. He helped the school win top 3 placement in the annual Schools music & speech festival (solo-verse speaking P3 boys) and he is very well liked by his students who enjoy his lesson greatly. He builds positive and happy relationships with students of all ages and backgrounds with a very down-to-earth style of engagement. Many years ago, Craig was a part-time artiste teaching English on TV with RTHK on their long-running eTV programme, which is unique among teachers. Craig is also an experienced IELTS teacher, having trained students at top secondary schools as well as adults at other institutions throughout HK, with good results. He continues to be a sought-after teacher for IELTS and he advocates a love of reading & listening as a basic principle. He has also taught the Govt’s CEF program (English module) and worked with the YMCA in HK.
Miss Man is one of the judges in the AFEPT Olympiad Competition. She is also the founder of Miss Man International Education. She has been in education for over 20 years and teaches Chinese to non-native speakers. She earned her bachelor's degree in Australia and her master's degree in Education from the University of Hong Kong. Currently, she is preparing to pursue her PhD in the UK. She is also an assessment and education consultant, helping students with overseas studies and competitions. Additionally, she has nearly 10 years of experience in teaching and assessments, including work experience with IDP IELTS and ICAS assessments Australia.
Dr. Mark Au Yeung is a distinguished expert in AI and technology, currently representing The #University of #Birmingham, 🇬🇧UK. With extensive experience in the field, he is well-connected with a network of international educators and students. As a judge for the ADEPT competition, Dr. Au Yeung brings valuable insights into emerging technologies and their applications in education. His global perspective and commitment to innovation make him an asset to the judging panel.
Ms. Betty Lui is an experienced educator with over 30 years in the field. Currently, she has worked at the #Hotel School #Sydney, part of #Southern Cross University, specializing in business education for aspiring hospitality professionals. As a judge for the ADEPT competition, Ms. Lui leverages her extensive knowledge and experience to evaluate participants effectively. She is also actively involved in mentoring young professionals and supporting community initiatives. Residing in Sydney, Ms. Lui enjoys exploring the city’s vibrant culture and staying updated on industry trends.
Graduating from the #University of Huddersfield, UK in Art, she has been working in design industry for over 5 years. Start off from fashion design and styling, she has a lot of experience in projects that involves in paper pattern designing, production and art direction. While working in design industry, she has been teaching and consulting students from local schools to international schools for art portfolios building and exam skills. Having been in both design and education industry, hee passion is always to inspire her students to create works that are from their original idea and yet, be able to deliver and project it on their creations.
Sam is a passionate education technology consultant, educator and highly experienced business leader. He teaches AI for beginners to multi-ethnic minorities of all ages (children and adults) at the Hong Kong branch of International Social Service and is currently leading business development for HelloTalk, the world’s largest social network and most comprehensive app for language learning. Sam is a highly experienced presenter of both education and business conferences. Sam grew up in #Thailand 🇹🇭 , #USA 🇺🇸and lived in multiple countries and has close to 20 years of professional experience at global technology and AI companies such as #Microsoft, #Yahoo, SAS, AppsFlyer and #HelloTalk. Sam has experience in 22 markets across APAC and North America. He has also managed multicultural teams and enjoys upskilling the workforce for the future.
